In collaboration with Ikigai's Japanese Festival, hosted at The Assembly Rooms in Leamington Spa.
Learn the therapeutic art of flower arranging in a style inspired by the ancient techniques of Ikebana. Working with British-grown flowers, this class is a perfect way to try arranging in this traditional Japanese style, whilst also learning about sustainable flowers.
'Ike' means 'life' and 'bana' means 'flower'. Ikebana practices the art of giving life to plants and flowers which have been cut from the earth. The practice focuses on slow and considered choices when placing materials into a vase, allowing each piece space to breathe, and ensuring all elements are working harmoniously.
In the workshop we will discuss the basic principles of Ikebana in simple terms and explain how we interpret them in our everyday work as floral designers. Suitable for all ability levels, no floristry experience is required and we will help you translate how to incorporate Ikebana in your everyday lives.
£47.95 price includes a ceramic bowl, Kenzan flower frog, endless choice of fresh materials, and packaging to help transport your arrangements home. We will supply snips, aprons, and Ikebana art books for inspiration during the class.
**Please note** This event is part of the Ikigai Japanese Festival which has ticketed entry in addition to the workshop cost. Tickets to the festival are £8+booking fees. Please book this separately also via Ikigai's Eventbrite.
